Aotake Dōjō training focuses on the Shisenkan International Kobudō Federation’s curriculum. This curriculum includes ancient empty-hand fighting styles, weapons training, and classical Japanese jujutsu, the progenitor of many modern grappling styles.
Ron Kosen Sensei, the leader of Shisenkan, focuses on teaching the kata of the various schools within Kobudo while understanding modern applications for real-life self-defense. At Aotake Dōjō, we follow his philosophies and training methods to achieve optimal results.
Kobudo Taijutsu
The Takamatsu-den arts encompass nine ryuha, or schools, of training that include a wide variety of combat philosophies, styles, and methods. We follow ancient and some more modern traditions while making the combat styles relevant for present-day self-defense needs. The philosophies of Kobudo bring the body and mind together, creating a person ready and capable of avoiding or handling situations should they arise.
Kobudo Weapons
Weapons training is a large part of the curriculum at Shisenkan. There is a strong emphasis on bojutsu with hanbo, jo, and rokushakubo, as well as kenjutsu within various ryuha. The kata and stances are traditional, but the movements support the use of a modern weapon should the need arise. There are other weapons included, such as shuriken and jutte, as well as some classical ninja weapons.
